Meditation has moved more into the public consciousness in the last 5 years. There is a reason, it is a powerful tool for helping to heal stress, worry, pain, and other health related issues. Have you ever tried to meditate but found it too intimidating? Maybe you gave up thinking “I cannot do it!” Meditation can seem an obscure and remote practice, but it is actually quite simple. It is a state of consciousness we each have within.
During this 6 week course you will learn how to sit quietly with your thoughts, feelings, and sensations. You will challenge old beliefs, and begin a practice that will help you handle the challenges of daily life.
Meditation is both a practice, and a state of being. Each of us has a center of calm spaciousness within. This inner space has a resonance we are rarely taught to experience, but sometimes we do spontaneously! For instance, seeing a sunset or doing something creative. We can lose our sense of self and yet feel completely at peace. This is an aspect of the meditation experience. The actions we take become the practice which leads to the “meditative state.”
In this Meditation Course for Beginners we will take a relaxed, affirming approach to teaching actions while making sure comfort is the key. We will also incorporate the use of chairs, pillows, and blankets to help the body to both rest, and stay gently aligned.
